As the Covid-19 situation further deteriorates in Malaysia impacting various industries and economic sectors adversely, many members of our society who used to donate essential goods and even money to the poor and needy as part of their philanthropic commitments have been affected either in their jobs or companies and are unable or in an unfavorable financial position to sustain their previous acts of philanthropy.

A Little Hope is an online CSR project organized by Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Public Relations/Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Communication and Public Relations students at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang. The main purpose of this campaign is to spread awareness of kindness & love in Malaysian society by conducting online crowdfunding for 15 days with the aim to assist people who are facing difficulties or people who need assistance during this critical COVID-19 pandemic. All funds that have been successfully collected will be fully used to purchase rice packets and all the items will be donated to relevant needful individuals or organizations.

Many lives were negatively impacted by COVID-19, placing an extra burden on single-parent families where responsibilities are not unable to be split as well as the difficulty in finding jobs, especially among single mothers due to the lack of education and specialized occupational expertise.

Wonder Mama, a project organized by Year 3 students pursuing Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Communications and Public Relations at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, to provide baking, digital marketing, and business startup skills to single mothers in Penang.

Furthermore, Wonder Mama was a collaboration with Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) and has provided valuable knowledge to 16 single mothers and was gifted a box of name cards as well as a certificate of attendance for participating in the workshops provided.
